Top Ten Tuesday – Books I Put Down

Posted May 13, 2014 by Andi in Top 10 Tuesday / 0 Comments

This week for TTT I was supposed to do a post about 10 books I almost put down. I tried and tried to think of even one and I was stumped. Instead I started to think of the books that I actually have put down which is a rare thing for me. Usually I push myself through and finish the book. But there have been a handful of books, in the 3 years I have been reading like a crazy person, that I just couldn’t force myself to continue. I gave it the old college try but just couldn’t do it any longer. Some of them when plot, so where writing style and some were just plain dull to me(I looking at you 1984!). So what are some of the books you have put down? Do you have trouble DNFing a book? Share with me.

  1. I’ve been thinking about reading a Kristan Higgins book, but I’m not sure if she’s an author for me. :/
I can totally understand putting down 1984 – it’s a slow read, and you’re either fascinated or not.

  2. I’m not sure I’ve read any of those. I used to have a hard time putting down books, but I’ve been better about it lately. There are so many good books out there that I won’t have time to read them all as it is…

  3. Afterparty and Where It Began are both on my to-read list 🙁 I haven’t heard a ton of great stuff about either book though. Crazy Things Girls Do For Love has such a fun, happy cover!! Too bad it wasn’t good for you. I’ve actually never even heard of it.

  4. I used to find giving up on books really hard, but since I started blogging and my TBR pile exploded I began to give up more easily. I’m looking forward to reading 1984 at some point. I keep meaning to read it!

  5. 1984 seems to be a very polarizing book. I read it in school and half the class loved it (including me) and half that class despised it.

  6. I never DNF a book before I started blogging, now I read a lot more and have less patience with books if they aren’t really good. All the ones you picked are ones I haven’t read myself so I can’t comment on what I thought of them. I have seen Dangerous on a few lists of books people wish they HAD put down so that’s not a good sign. Nice picks 🙂 Here’s my TTT.

  7. Yikes, a lot of people have DNFed Dangerous. I’m wondering if I should even read it now. I think I have it from Netgalley so I wanted to at least try it but then again, it really makes me want to just pass. Can you do that on Netgalley? LOL.
