Today is my turn to contribute to the fabulous feature, the brain child of Brittany at The Book Addict’s Guide, where myself, Brittany, Estelle at Rather Be Reading and Maggie at Just a Couple More Pages are paring books and beer. Pretty perfect for a bunch of beer and book lovers if you ask me.

I switched with Brittany for this round of Pub Date so I’m up again. This month’s theme is Beach/BBQ.
The Beer
Sea Dog Sunfish: Just last weekend I was at the beach up in Maine, Old Orchard Beach to be specific, and I tried this beer on the suggestion of our waitress. I had been drinking Shock Top Lemon Shandy for most of the weekend so this was a nice departure. It was supposed to be a combination of peach essence with a hint of grapefruit, but I didn’t got much of the peach. I did get that citrus taste which made this a perfect beach/BBQ kind of beer. I have never had anything really similar so I wouldn’t even know what I could suggest. Maybe Shiner Ruby Redbird would be close to a suggestion.
The Book
What I Thought Was True by Huntley Fitzpatrick: Does this cover alone not scream beach? I mean they are on the freaking beach. 😉 But seriously this was an excellent beach read. It takes place over the summer (spoiler alert) and navigates the ups and downs of teenage emotions and falling in love. I know we are all excite for Huntley’s next book, The Boy Most Likely To (out August 4th), but don’t forget to check out this gem. REVIEW

Ooooh this beer sounds great! I’m a big fan of Sea Dog in general (I live in Portland, ME), but I haven’t seen this anywhere. I’ll have to keep my eyes peeled. Thanks for the suggestion!
We went and visited Portland for the afternoon when I was there. Had lunch at $3 Dewey’s and I bought delicious balsamic vinegar at Le Roux. Loved it there.
Oh that DOES sound yummy!! I love light & fruity beers for the summer too, and shandies.
I’m so excited to read more Huntley! I’m really looking forward to more of her books and I should really get to them this summer!
Thanks again for switching with me!
