In January I signed up for TMT’s 2013 Bookmark/Book Swaps held by Jen and Kellee. Each person was required to sign up by a certain date and send your book out by a certain date. The theme of the swap was to send your favorite book or a book you think everyone should read in the Children’s Literature and Young Adult age range. You could send anything from a graphic novel to a picture book to a novel. And if anyone knows me you know that I mostly read YA exclusively so this was just about the perfect challenge for me. I debated on what to send and finally decided to send my favorite middle grade read, I sent The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin, a book that I was insanely in love with in the 5th grade and recently just read again. Along with it I sent one of my new favorite obsession, a magnetic penguin book mark.
Now all I had to do was wait for mine to arrive. I’ve said it before and I will say it again, I am a sucker for anything mystery so I was on the end of my seat waiting and then the day arrived. It was a rainy day and the package my book is was soaked through. But surprisingly enough the book was 100% untouched by the rain. Do I have you in suspense enough? Are you on the edge of your seat trying to find out what I got? Probably not since I posted it on Twitter, but whatever. Humor me. š
Yup, I got Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins and an adorable Wizard of Oz book mark. Kipp who sent me my items just a lovely note with the package explaining the reasoning behind it. Now I know you all know, well most of you anyway, that I have read Anna a bunch of times already. So yes while it is a book I have, it is also a book I love and a version of the book I didn’t have yet. Kipp so kindly sent me the paperback version which is just awesome. The pages are ragged and worn and I ā„ it!
So there you have it, my first Book Swap Expirence. It was fun, it was new, it was something I would do again.
A huge thank you to Kipp, Jen and Kellee.
What do you think? Would you be interested in something like this?
Books swaps are so much fun! You should watch for some during the holiday season. I also found a cool blog that compiles different swaps: http://swapdex.blogspot.com/
I’ll definitely keep my eyes peeled. If you see any really good ones let me know.
You have talked about this Anna and the French kiss so much I am starting to get intrigued. We will see how many posts until I finally get it.
Get it like now! If you ever trust me on a book this is the one. You will eat it up! It will remind you of a good TV couple relationship build.
So much fun! We had fun hosting the swap. I have only done a mug swap before that one of my blog friends hosted. I know a friend who did a scarf swap, too. Maybe that would be fun…a book and a scarf swap! I know you like accessories. š Thanks for joining in!
