BEA Armchair Introduction

Posted May 28, 2013 by Andi in BEA Arm Chair / 0 Comments

So this week is a big week in the book blogging world. Every year around this time there is a big gathering of book bloggers, readers, authors, publishers and the like called BEA, Book Expo America. I’ve never been able to attend, I swear one of these days, but have wanted to. However this year I’ve learned about BEA Armchair which is for bloggers that can’t actually attend BEA. Figured why not give it a try. So here is my BEA Armchair first post, introducing myself based off questions asked on the Armchair website. I was told to select five and here they are with my answers.

1)Please tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you? How long have you been blogging? Why did you get into blogging?
My name is Andi and I’ve been blogging since January of this year. Well actually I was reviewing for Michelle at Galleysmith for a while, but when she took a break I decided to try on my own after some gentle nudges from friends. Being obsessed with not only reading, but clothing and shopping I decided if I was going to do this, I as going to write about everything I love.

2) What are you currently reading, or what is your favorite book you have read so far in 2013?
I am currently reading the amazing Melina Marchetta’s book Jellicoe Road and it is fantastic. As for my favorite book read so far this year, that a tough one. I’ve read a lot of greatness this year, but currently I’ve read a string of 3/4 great books. Pivot Point by Kasie West, Just Like Fate by Cat Patrick & Suzanne Young, The Program by Suzanne Young, and Parallel by Lauren Miller. All so fantastic.

3)Tell us one non-book-related thing that everyone reading your blog may not know about you.
One non-book related thing about me…hmm… I guess that I don’t know how to swim. I live on a coast and never learned.

4) Which is your favorite post that you have written that you want everyone to read?
I wrote a post after the Boston bombings in April that I’m very proud of because I got my feelings out on what was happening.

5) If you could eat dinner with any author or character, who would it be and why?
I would want to eat dinner with Anna and Etienne from Anna and the French Kiss. I’ve read that book 5 times and the two characters together make me feel good about myself. For author, I think I would go with Veronica Roth. She’s pretty fantastic as a writer and just seems so cool and down to earth. Plus someone that had Four in their head can’t be all that bad. Ha

So, there you have it, 5 things to introduce myself. Now make sure to stop back or follow for more posts.

  1. Welcome to the world of book blogging. I’ve been at it for a little over three years and still consider myself a newbie. It’s a great community to be part of – everyone is super supportive and it’s so nice being able to chat about a common passion – our love of books!

    My Intro Post

    • Thanks for stopping by Kristin. It really is a great group of people. They ave been very supportive and helpful to me. I really enjoy doing it.

    • Well hello other Andi. šŸ™‚ Thanks for stopping by. I finished Jellicoe Road this morning and I highly recommend it. It was amazingly good and I’m glad I was pushed to finally read it.

Happy Armchair BEA to you too. šŸ™‚

    • My mom was scared of the water so she made me scared of it too. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge pool girl, but I just don’t go where I can’t stand or see the bottom. Ha.

Thanks for visiting my little blog. šŸ™‚

  2. So…. I think I’ve already sort of ‘met’ you through Irish and Twitter. Am I right? Did I actually stumble across your blog?? If so – FANTASTIC! Otherwise, I’m sorry and excuse me šŸ™‚

I bought Jellicoe Road a while ago – but in ebook format so I always forget that I have it. I need to read it, as I’ve heard that it is great!

    -Sarah

    • Haha! You have indeed stumbled across my little blog Sarah. Nice detective skills. šŸ˜€

Seriously though move Jellicoe up. I bought it forever ago when it was $2.99 on the Kindle and forgot to read it. So worth it. Once everything starts coming together it’s magical.

  3. I can’t swim either! I thought it was just me haha. And the book Parallel looks really interesting, it’s going on my TBR list right now (:

  4. I’ve heard such good things about Anna & the French Kiss. Maybe I’ll be able to get to it one of these days šŸ˜‰ You know how it goes with the giant piles of books that WANT TO BE READ RIGHT NOW!

    Have a great ABEA!

  5. I have yet to read Suzanne Young’s books and also Anna & the French Kiss. From what I’ve heard, they’re really good. šŸ™‚ Also, I’ve met Veronica Roth once when she came for a signing, but I was to chicken to make real good conversation with her. I kind of regret it now,
