What is Stitch Fix? Stitchfix.com describes themselves as “a personal styling service. You tell us your style, size, and budget preferences, and we send you a package of stylish goodies to try on at home. Each Fix is unique and hand-picked just for you.” And that is pretty accurate. Basically in Andi terms, you go onto their website, fill out an extensive survey about your fashion likes and dislikes, your sizes and skin tones, basically anything that can give the stylist a picture of who you are with them having never met you. After you do this you pick a date, pay $20.00 and wait patiently for your box to arrive. Each box will have 5 pieces of clothing/accessories based on what you selected in your survey. When your “Fix” arrives, you try on your items and decide what you want to keep or send back. If you keep everything you will save 25% off your total dollar value, minus the $20 you already spent. If you keep 1-4 items you take $20 dollars off that total. If you keep nothing all you will lose is for $20 fee and you are free to schedule another “Fix”. It’s easy to send everything back as you get a pre-addressed envelope that you pop in the mail 3 business days after receiving.  Stitch Fix has a great FAQ section that you can check out here if you are interested in finding out more.

Fix #3

On June 3rd I got my third “Fix” in the mail. I was hopeful for nice summery items since the weather was changing.  Included in the box was 5 items: 1 scarf, 2 tops, 1 light weight sweatshirt and a pair of capri jeans. Let’s see what I got:

Liverpool – Odell Capri Jean

I knew these weren’t for me right from the start. I’m not a capri person at all. I’m more of an ankle pant wearer. But I tried them on anyway and I was right. The length was weird and the thigh area was too big. Not to mention the crotch part was an awkward fit. My gut was right on these ones.

Keep? No.

Kut From The Kloth – Somerville Printed Short Sleeve Top

I liked the print of this one as soon as I saw it. It fits with the nautical. preppy stuff I normally like. The material was a little heavier than I would have wanted for the summer but it could work. And then I tried it on. I could have fit 3 people in that shirt with me. It wasn’t the least bit flattering at all. It ended up feeling like a scrubs top.

Keep? Definitely NO

Daniel Rainn – Blair Crochet Detail Textured Blouse

The shirt did absolutely nothing for me. It was too big, the sleeves wouldn’t stay folded and it is an easily wrinkled fabric. I had it on for all of 3 second before making up my mind. It just wasn’t me.

Keep? No

Look by M – Barbara Stars & Stripes Infinity Scarf

I loved this item as soon as I unfolded it. I love scarfs and I don’t actually own and infinity scarf. I normally can’t wear red near my face but this was faded enough that I think I can get away with it. I’m not entirely sure what I will wear it with or to where, but I knew I had to have it.

Keep? High Possibility

Chris & Carol – Pepper Hooded Front Pocket Sweatshirt

I’m a stripes lover. I can’t help it. There is something just so clean and understated about a good stripped item. So when I saw this in my package I was excited. Sadly that excitement wavered. This ended up not fitting well and wasn’t worth the price. Especially considering I have something similar from Old Navy. It ended up making me look dumpy and that’s not a look you want to go for.

Keep? No way.

This wasn’t really a hard decision on me this time. I knew right off the bat that almost everything was a no. I really only have to debate one item. So I thought and thought over night and finally I came up with my decision.

And my final choice is:

I really, really liked this scarf. The cost of the item was $32.00. With my $20 styling fee and then my credit that I still had available it ended up costing me nothing. It was the one keeper in the box so I kept it.

Since my last two boxes have been basically busts I have decided to take a small break from Stitch Fix. I know I say this now, but I think I want to wait until September for my next one and roll the dice with fall clothes. I may tweak my my style profile some as something is definitely off, but we’ll see. I still recommend trying the company as it has been a pretty great experience. Plus who doesn’t like to get clothes in the mail that they have no idea what they are??!!

  1. The striped hoodie from Old Navy? I think I have the same one lol. Good choices on sending most of these back. Though they’re cute on the hanger, sometimes you don’t really know until you put them on & wear them for a bit. I love that scarf though.

The scarf is such a good deal! Love it!

Have you tried Vain Pursuits? They’re kind of like Stitchfix but for beauty products
