Top Ten Tuesday – Books Missed in 2014

Posted January 13, 2015 by Andi in Top 10 Tuesday / 18 Comments

Reading is hard work sometimes. You miss a lot of great books while you are reading other great books. I feel like this year I missed more than i would have liked to. I did what I could, but these 10 still slipped by me. What books did you miss that came out in 2014?

  1. SNOW LIKE ASHES made my list too even though it’s my current read (but I still didn’t get it read in 2014 so I guess it counts). LADY THIEF is good, but not as good as SCARLET, in my opinion. I have heard really, really good things about PRINCESS OF THORNS and got it for Christmas, so I hope to read it sooner rather than later. And oh my gosh, you have not read THE ASSASSIN’S BLADE yet?! Get on it (though, warning, it really makes you want to reread the other books).

In my opinion I don’t think you’re missing anything with Afterworlds. I listened to the audiobook and it was a 2 star read. It was my first Scott Westerfeld book so maybe his writing is not for me.

  3. Love and Other Foreign Words is adorable, and I loved the MC’s voice in particular. I’m pretty sure you know how much I love Everything Leads to You, and you definitely must read that one! It’s just as bright and happy as the cover suggestions.

Bring the tissues for the last novella in The Assassin’s Blade. Just saying.

(I also am late to the Scarlet bandwagon – but I’ve got both Scarlet and Lady Thief now so I can read them before Lion Heart is released!)

  4. I love the way you set this up! I also need to read I’ll Give You The Sun. I’ve heard so many good things about it! Same thing with Landline and Snow Like Ashes. Hopefully we’ll both be able to read them in 2015!

  5. Ah, yes–we do have some titles in common! You will love The Assassin’s Blade, I think! Interested to see what you think of that.

I actually also have Landline and The Fall to read. I’ve become very interested in reading The Fall lately–it has such a creeper cover but I love books that draw on the classics. Love the set up of this post!

  6. I adored Princess of Thorns and I’ll Give You the Sun! The latter has some of the most beautiful writing EVER. I hope you’re able to get to them soon!
And I myself need to catch up on the Scarlet trilogy – will definitely be binging it when I get my hands on Lion Heart. 🙂
    Great list, chicka!
