Top Ten Tuesday – For Readers Who Like Emotional Contemporaries

I’m a huge contemporary reader. I’m a sucker for a realistic story so I tend to gravitate to them. I love that you can pick up a contemporary book and sometimes get something that is on the lighter side, but with a message, like The DUFF, or you can get a book that will straight up gut you. If I’m honest the gutting books are my all time favorites. So when I was coming up with a certain topic to focus on for today’s Top Ten Tuesday emotional books was my only answer. I just went on a string where I read some really excellent ones that are either out or coming out so it was perfect. What is your go to emotional contemporary?

And after you have a good cry with these 10, you’ll want to head over to see Danielle’s list at Love at First Page. She is giving you some nice fluffy reads to warm your heart. I’ve read a bunch of them.

  1. I still need to read WHERE SHE WENT and all of Morgan Matson’s books! Everyone has said I’LL MEET YOU THERE is so, so good, so I have to read it. I have the SEA OF TRANQUILITY and ARCs of THE LAST TIME WE SAY GOODBYE and THINGS WE KNOW BY HEART–basically, I have a lot of reading to do.

  2. OOOH!! For the ones I’ve read–you picked good ones!

I’ve had my heart wrenched out w/ Second Chance Summer, Sea of Tranquility, GAHHH If I Lie, and Where She Went. I still have Maybe One Day on my shelf and have an ARC of Things We Know By Heart….I should read these soon 🙂

  3. I’m reading I’ll Meet You There currently, and I already know I’m going to need some tissues! But I’m already hooked after 30 pages, so I don’t think I’ll mind in the end 😛

And this also kind of scares me for The Summer of Chasing Mermaids! I should be reading that one soon, so I’m sure I’ll be tweeting you all the feels 😉

Thanks for sharing these emotional reads, will definitely be adding the ones I haven’t read to my to-read list!

  5. I do love emotional reads, but I have to be ready for them too. LOL. I have The Last Time We Say Goodbye, Things We Know By Heart, and I’ll Meet You There and I’m excited for them. Second Chance Summer, I actually read this past Christmas while driving down to Florida with my dad, so yeah… I was a bit emotional over that one! Love The Sea of Tranquility!
