Today we have Cadie from Trish Doller‘s book The Devil You Know (out 6/2/15).
Let’s give a warm ABCers welcome to Cadie to the ABCs, (and Trish, again)!

Doing this guest post for THE DEVIL YOU KNOW was pretty easy. Cadie is a girl into fashion, specifically taking cast-off things and repurposing them into something fresh and new. She knows how to sew, loves the hunt at the local thrift shop, and has the patience to save up for the big ticket items. I think the ABCs of Arcadia Wells actually give quite a bit of insight into who she is…
Accessory: Celtic Knot and Swallows Necklace
In seafaring lore, the swallow was symbol of home and hope. Sailors would get the first swallow before they left and after successfully finishing the trip, they’d get the second. Also, because swallows are land birds, when sailors see swallows, it means they’re almost home. Some people also see swallows as a symbol of freedom, being able to fly. So I think all of this works really well for Cadie who wants to fly, but also loves her home. While I don’t mention any jewelry in the story at all, I can see her wearing this.
Book: Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost Journal Cover
Cadie is definitely a reader, but her bookish item has to be a travel journal. She has plans to go and do and see, and she needs somewhere to record her memories. I also love the Tolkien quote because while I don’t think Cadie knows her direction just yet, she’s not really lost.
Clothing: Rag & Bone Moto textured-leather biker boots
When Cadie gets dressed for the campfire party, she chooses a pair of motorcycle boots she bought after saving a couple of paychecks from the grocery store where she works. She’d need more than a couple of paychecks for this pair (even on sale) but these are the closest to the boots I pictured in my head while I was writing. They are badass boots and she is definitely the girl who can wear them.
As always, I’ve had so much fun doing this! Thank you, Andi, for letting me have another turn!

Thanks Cadie (and Trish) for playing!
If you would like to play like Cadie (and Trish) did, sign-ups are open HERE.
This is awesome! I love the necklace, and I was definitely picturing books like those when reading!
I love all of these things! I really love how I feel like I know Cadie more too. And I really probably need those boots. Just digging Cadie’s style all over the place!!
Ack!! I love that necklace and journal cover!! I have such a weakness for the celtic knot! I also like the boots but they aren’t my style so I’d never wear them. But I’d probably look at them in a store or on someone and think they are cure.
That’s so fun that Trish participated! I am in love with that necklace and those boots – I’d certainly buy them for myself. 🙂
I love this! Especially having a visual for Cadie’s boots!
