Guest Post: Put Me in a Story Book Review + a Giveaway

Posted September 3, 2015 by Andi in General, Giveaway, Guest Post / 1 Comment

I was contacted by Sourcebooks Jabberwocky to do a review book for a personalized children;s book. I myself do not have kids but one of my friends, Megan, has a 4 year old daughter. Figured what better way to branch out on the blog and to be able to gift a cute little girl with a book.

Anyway I asked Megan if she and Grace would be interested in helping me out and she was on board. We selected Let’s Go to School: Hello Kitty and Me as her book. Megan was kind enough to review to book and send some pictures.

In a 4-year old’s world, getting mail is monumental.  My daughter was very excited to receive her personalized copy of Hello Kitty Goes to School last week, just in time for her own back to school preparations.

Though she is only in preschool, Grace can recognize the letters in her name and was thrilled to see it repeated on the glossy pages.  The large font made it a wonderful read-aloud for Grace, and was no strain for her mother.

The length is rather long for preschoolers, though the bright colors and engaging text kept her attention.  I loved that it integrated colors/numbers/etc, reinforcing age-appropriate themes.

The only complaint is that the binding seemed to come undone after just a few readings.  We took great care to store Grace’s personalized book in a special place for safekeeping, but were disappointed to see the damage caused after very little handling.

This author/title/series is highly recommended if you want to “wow” a little loved one with a personalized gift they can enjoy again and again.  Makes a wonderful shower/baptism/birthday/first day of school gift for any girl or boy who loves to see their name in print!
