Today is my turn to contribute to the fabulous feature, the brain child of Brittany at The Book Addict’s Guide, where myself, Brittany, Estelle at Rather Be Reading and Maggie at Just a Couple More Pages are paring books and beer. Pretty perfect for a bunch of beer and book lovers if you ask me.

I wasn’t really sure what I was going to do for this month’s Pub Date. I was planning to go to the liquor store and see what I could find that was creepy/horror. But then I went out after work on Tuesday and a beer metaphorically fell right into my lap. Actually it ended up being pretty fitting.

The Beer
When I was out with some co-workers I knew I had wanted to drink something fall and/or pumpkin. We were at a place that had a lot of different beers on tap but when someone order Roadsmary’s Baby Scary-Good Pumpkin Ale I was in. It was actually really good for a pumpkin ale. It didn’t have the same cinnamon-ish flavor that a lot of pumpkin beers have.  And you could definitely taste the vanilla. The ABV is 6.8% which is high for drinking on a Tuesday night, but worth it. I would definitely get this one again.

The Book
This was definitely harder as I don’t really do creepy or scary books. But then I started thinking to myself that I didn’t have to be so literal. There are other things that could make something scary. So for this month I have selected 2 books that are scary in their own way.

wantto delirium

Want To Go Private? by Sarah Darer Littman: This book is creepy and scary for one reason…it’s real and can happen. I remember reading this book and immediately wanting to give it to so many people just so they could read it. It scared me how easily people can be swayed by someone.

Delirium by Lauren Oliver: I can’t imagine how cold it would feel to live in a world where you can’t love. That’s what’s scary about this book.

And there you have my Pub Date. I will be hosting this lovely feature every few weeks and would love for you to stop by and share a pint with me…or at least tell me what you are currently enjoying. Make sure you follow along with Brittany, Estelle and Maggie too. You never know when you will find your new favorite beer.
