2016 Reading Challenges

Posted January 8, 2016 by Andi in Contemporary Romance Challenge, Must Read in 2016, Reading Challenges, Rock My TBR / 8 Comments

Last year I did two reading challenges: Flights of Fantasy hosted by Alexa (Alexa Loves Books) and Rachel (Hello, Chelly) and The Re-Read Challenge hosted by Kelly (Belle of the Literati) and Hannah (So Obsessed With). I did pretty good in the end. I mean I had bad months, who doesn’t, but I reached my goal on one and almost on the other. This year I decided I was going to do 3 challenges along with my Goodreads challenge (which I epically failed at in 2015). To keep it interesting I decided not to do The Re-Read Challenge and Flights of Fantasy again. This year I am going to do these 3 challenges:

Love at First Page and Gone with the Words are hosting the 2016 Contemporary Romance Reading Challenge and I’m signing up. I mean just look at my shelves…I am a contemporary romance reading fool. It is like this challenge was made for me.  You can find out all the details you need to know HERE, but these are the levels:

Levels:

1st Base: read 1 – 5 books

2nd Base: read 6 – 10 books

3rd Base: read 11 – 15 books

Home Run: read 16 – 20 books

Grand Slam: read 21+ books

I am going for the Grand Slam level. Should be a piece of cake. Should. We’ll see.

ROCK-1

Sarah at The YA Book Traveler is hosting Rock My TBR challenge. It is no secret that as book bloggers we have a lot of books that don’t get read. We get busy or getting something new and shiny (we are an easily distracted bunch) and things we were excited about reading don’t actually get read. This is my chance to change that and to read some of the books that have been collecting dust since before I was blogging. You can find more information HERE, but here is the important part of the post:

?The Challenge:

  • To read a minimum of 1 book per month you already own (published book). This challenge is totally what YOU make of it! You can do 5 books a month, 10, WHATEVER! Anything you accomplish is fantastic. This challenge is really what you make of it.

I have a ton of options so this shouldn’t be that hard. Time will tell though. On the plus it should help me with my 3rd challenge:

Lauren from Bookmark Lit is hosting The Must Read in 2016 “Challenge”. This challenge isn’t really a challenge per say. More a way to push yourself to read some books you were excited about in 2015 that you just never got to. Find out more HERE. I have a lot of these really as I am terrible at following through sometimes when I say I will read something.  These books are not definite for me to read but I will strive to read them in 2016:

Let’s see if I am successful with this one.

And there you have it, my 3 (minus the Goodreads challenge) challenges for 2016. Like last year I will post a check-in at the end of each month with links/thoughts on the books I read towards each of them. I also will have Goodreads shelves dedicated to each challenge as well.

Good luck to all and good luck to me.
