Books I Would Take on Vacation This Summer

Now that I’m back full time in the library world, it’s almost impossible to take a vacation during the summer because of the Summer Reading Programs. But I do love the idea of sitting by the pool and reading. Plus one of the best parts about going on vacation is planning the books you’re going to take with you.

I always plan way too many books, but if I’m sitting by the pool all week reading, I’d finish quite a few books. So this summer, I’m imagining that I’m heading off for a week long vacation to a tropical locale with the ocean or pool, comfy chairs, and delicious drinks.

These are the books I would take along on that magical vacation in the middle of August:

The final book in the Rose Harbor series, which I adore! Looking forward to seeing what happens between Mark and Jo Marie. I love the title and wonder how that plays into the series ending.

The 10th book in the series, features Lady Georgiana heading to Ireland to save her almost father-in-law from being convicted of murder. I’ve loved these books and feel like we’re seeing a peak of an almost royal life.

The one that got away and a rags to riches story all combined in one read. How can I say no to that?

I love reading thrillers during vacation. I’m slowly working my way through the Private series. There’s not much overlap of characters, but it’s the same company that investigates terrible events around the world.

Janet Evanovich’s books are perfect for vacation – funny, entertaining, and thrilling reads.

The final book in the trilogy of country sensation Bird Barrett – will all the pressure get to her? I adore these books for the inside life of a country musician. I’ve loved seeing Bird work to achieve her fame and I hope she’s able to enjoy it.

A fish out of water story with a soccer star with Olympic dreams being forced by her mother to participate in debutant season. What could possibly go wrong?

And from my reading shelves at home:

I adore this series. It reminds me a little of the Shopaholic series where Becky gets herself into all kinds of trouble. Scarlett does too, but it’s also entertaining and sweet.

High stakes race to locate and recover spheres that can help or even change your life. When a Gold sphere is found, people will do almost anything to get their hands on it.

Two people with impossible choices come together to break all the rules – and in doing so, might actually save themselves.

Katherine’s life turns upside down when her brother dies from a drowning accident. Only Katherine doesn’t believe it’s an accident, she’s convinced he was murdered. Can she figure out the truth under strange circumstances while following strict decorum?

Doesn’t that sounds like a great reading week? Now I really wish I was going on vacation!
