The Art of the Reread

I’m sure by now you have noticed I’m a fan of the reread. I feel like it is an underappreciated art form. I know we all have a ton of books we want to read or are excited to read, but sometimes you just need to read that book that just made you feel things. Or that book you can’t get out of your head. Sometimes you just need the comfort of the known inside of the wonder if you will be disappointed in a book. I’m a fan of the reread and I plan to reread a lot this year, not because I have to for a challenge (I’m not doing any challenges this year) but because it is something that is important to me.

What books do I plan to reread this year? Well since you asked:

Anna and the French Kiss: I actually already reread this on January 1st and 2nd. It was my 13th read since it has come out. I may actually read it again this year.

A Court of Mist and Fury: I’m currently rereading this one. I started it on audio and then I couldn’t get it out of my head so I went all in. Yes I am insane to reread a 600+ page book but I love it so much.

All in Pieces: One of my FAVORITE reads of 2016. In fact I have already read it twice, and that was before it was even out. There is something about it that just connects with me.

Free to Fall: Last year I read Lauren’s Parallel again (FAVE!) so this year I want to tackle Free to Fall again. I just love her writing so much.

The Lies About Truth (Goodreads): I have been meaning to read this again so I can review it and I haven’t done it yet. This year it happens. This book was so good!

I’ll Meet You There: By far my favorite Heather Demetrios book. I’m kind of obsessed with Josh and Skylar and how everything unfolds for them.

All Our Yesterdays: Since Cristin Terrill has a new book coming out soonish it is about time I revist the book that made me fall in love with time travel books.

Those 7 are just a sample of what I want to reread. I hope to reread at least 12 books, one for each month, but we’ll see how it goes.

Do you have a go to reread? Do you reread books?

PS. Here is my post on how to add rereads to Goodreads. It has been a challenge life saver for me.

  1. As you know I totally plan on rereading ANNA this year too! ALL OUR YESTERDAYS was the book that made me fall in love with time travel as well – I hope to re-listen to this in 2017 because it’s been so long and it was soo good.

  2. I love rereading! I feel like I don’t do it *that* much, but then, 10 of my books last year were rereads, and I feel like that’s not bad. It’s so fun getting to notice all those details and foreshadowing things you didn’t notice the first time around, but it can definitely also be comforting if it’s a book or series you love and just want to go back to!

  3. I’m glad you want to read I’ll Meet You There again; I’ve got in on my Kindle and have got to read it soon! Although I’ve never done a reread, save for children’s books, I’d like to give it a shot sometime!

  4. I’m at the opposite end of the spectrum in that I have *never* been a rereader. However, last year I had 12 rereads so I guess that is changing! šŸ™‚ ACOMAF is definitely one I could see me rereading this year before ACOWAR releases. And I’ll Meet You There is one of my favorite books ever so I am sure I will reread it at some point. So much love for Sky and Josh! (Btw, new subscriber here!)

  5. I totally agree with this! I rewatch movies constantly because it’s comforting and they are favorites for a reason; I feel the same way about books. One a month is a really good goal! I love rereading too but don’t let myself indulge as often as I would like. I haven’t reread Anna in a couple years so maybe I’ll add that to my list! I’ve reread The Raven Cycle and The Off Campus Series a few times each, and Ella Enchanted is another go-to favorite of mine šŸ™‚ But I also want to make time to reread books I’ve been meaning to and keep putting off! Usually I read swoony books or books I can find foreshadowing in (like fantasy) which is fun šŸ™‚

  6. Typically the only books I reread are the Harry Potter books. But, on a whim, I picked up Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging by Louise Rennison during my library visit today. I haven’t read this book since middle-school, which is over ten years ago. I’m delighted to say I still really enjoy it a decade later!
