In 2018 I had the idea to have readers and friends read my favorite books from years past. I had 20+ amazing people sign up and read some of my all-time favorite books. They took the time out of their busy lives and reading schedules and read books I love and shared what they thought on my blog. It was a lot of fun and I got to see some new takes on old favorites. It actually was a fun experience. If you are interested in the reviews HERE.
This year I decided to give back in a way and asked everyone that signed up to tell me their favorite book (that I have not read) because in 2019 it is time to do NEW TO ME.

From the author of I Believe in a Thing Called Love, a laugh-out-loud story of love, new friendships, and one unique food truck.
Clara Shin lives for pranks and disruption. When she takes one joke too far, her dad sentences her to a summer working on his food truck, the KoBra, alongside her uptight classmate Rose Carver. Not the carefree summer Clara had imagined. But maybe Rose isn't so bad. Maybe the boy named Hamlet (yes, Hamlet) crushing on her is pretty cute. Maybe Clara actually feels invested in her dad’s business. What if taking this summer seriously means that Clara has to leave her old self behind?
With Maurene Goo's signature warmth and humor, The Way You Make Me Feel is a relatable story of falling in love and finding yourself in the places you’d never thought to look.
As a fan of contemporary YA, I have been told for a long time I need to read a Maurene Goo book. They always tell me it is a me author and I should check her out. Honestly, I’m not sure what I haven’t. I have been interested, just never actually went out and got one and read it. Well that all changed with The Way You Make Me Feel. It was voted on for me to read for New to Me, and I’m so happy I did. It reminded me a lot about what I love in an Emma Mills book and made the book a joy to read.
The Way You Make Me Feel is about Clara Shin, a high school girl that LOVES a good prank. Seriously, she has never met a prank she didn’t love and lives for causing chaos. That is until one of her pranks goes horribly wrong. Now instead of being lazy all summer and planning her trip to see her mom in Mexico, Clara is ‘sentenced’ to work in her dad’s food truck with her sworn enemy. With nothing going as planned Clara is in for a summer she never saw coming.
I knew immediately that I was going to enjoy Clara and her story. I loved her from the start even though I knew she needed to grow up and stop hiding her feeling with pranks and by running away. There was something so endearing about her that I found myself wanting her to be happy and to find her way. It truly was a delight to read about her journey and her growth and see her slow change, not only herself but the people she allowed to be close to her. Rose and Hamlet ended up being exactly when she needed and when and Goo demonstrated that with ease. Plus, Hamlet was SO SO CUTE!
All in all this was a fantastically, fun read that hit on a lot of serious stuff under the surface. Everything worked so well together and I couldn’t help but fall in love with it. This may have been my first Maurene Goo, but it won’t be my last. Definitely pick this one up if you haven’t!
