Second Chance Sunday: Bumped by Megan McCafferty

Second Chance Sunday: Bumped b..

It took a little while for this book to intrigue me before I actually decided to add it to my to-read list. I wasn’t sure if I would find the premise all that realistic. I thought it could be gimmicky. But after some small prodding and suggesting, I caved and added it. And then when I got a great deal on it for an eBook, I bought it right up. And so glad I did. When I first started reading this one I wasn’t a fan. Since it was an eGalley I thought I was missing the beginning because it just seemed to jump right into something without any background knowledge about what had happened. It made me feel like I missed something entirely. Not in a Marchetta kind of way, but more in a, “I’m missing chapters” kind of way. To me, Prodigy did what most first books do and set up the series.  In my mind, Prodigy was there to set up the final chapter, the last book in the series, Champion, and that made it understandable why I found parts slow and draggy. Prodigy picks up right where Legend ended. June and Day […]

Just Like Fate – Cat Patrick and Suzanne Young plus a Note

Just Like Fate – Cat Pat..

Before I get to the review for this one I wanted to say something about the rash of parallel life books that seem to be out in the YA world right now. I was talking to Christine of Oh, Chrys! on Twitter a little bit back when she was reading Pivot Point by Kasie West. She was telling me that she wanted more science. Being a big fan of the parallel life books I suggested that she read Parallel by Lauren Miller because that one had more science to it. She said she heard the books were both similar which […]
