Blog Tour: Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas [Location Scout & Giveaway]

Since Alexa got me hooked on the Throne of Glass series (rught around the time Heir of Fire was released) I have been lucky enough to be a member of the #MaasThirteen and have taken part in the blog tours to support the books (you can find my Heir of Fire and Queen of Shadows posts HERE and HERE). Well Empire of Storms is no different. With a new book I’m back with my stop on the Maas Thirteen blog tour.

First let me start with a disclaimer. I have not finished the book yet. I have been reading it since it came out but I’m about 36% (more now) finished. There are 2 reasons for this. 1) I read fantasy, especially Sarah, slow. I don’t want to miss everything and I like to take everything in and not have distractions. 2) I have a busy September on my hands so reading time has been cut down but I seriously can’t wait to see how it all turns out.

Okay, now that that is out of the way, on to my post.

I thought about what to do for this post and I was stumped at first, but then it came to me, a Location Scout. Much like the last book I am going to focus on locations, but only one this time. This time I am focusing on a new place (well not new if you read the novellas) that is a pretty big piece of the first 3rd of Empire of Storms. I am focusing on Skull’s Bay, home of the Pirate Lord Rolfe.

I swear if you haven’t read Queen of Shadows yet you DO NOT have to avert your eyes. I am not reviewing this book nor am I giving anything away. Truthfully I just finished the book this past weekend and I’m still trying to deal with all my feelings and emotions. Instead I am doing something a little different. Instead I’m going with places you visit while reading Queen of Shadows.

There is one thing that Sarah has done in all of her books and that is transport you to the Erilea, The way she describes everything it makes you feel like you are actually there. Whether it is the slums, Morath, Wendlyn, Terrasen or Adarlan.  And Queen of Shadows is no different. Below are some pictures of what I think some of the prime locations in Queen of Shadows would look like in real life.

I wasn’t really sure what I was going to do for my stop on the tour. I haven’t posted my review for Heir of Fire yet so I thought about doing that but it just seemed too dull. So then I started to brainstorm and I came up with what I always like to do, dress the character(s). So I decided to dress Celaena Sardothien.

celaena1

The Assassin
Celaena is an assassin. She kills people for a living and has for a very long time. That is what she has been trained to do. She’s hardcore and she would look hardcore. When pulling her look together I went for leather and lots of it. Since she needs to be able to move I found pants that also had some stretch to them and flat boots of course. And no assassin is any good without their sword. I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t want to meet her in a dark alley.

celaena3The Lady
The other side of Celaena is the girly side and that I love about her. She has killed and maimed more people than she could count. She has a reputation of being a cold blooded killer. But she is also a girl. She loves pretty things; dresses, shoes, jewelry. She has to hide that part of herself but it is still there. Because of that I chose a blue dress with sparkle detail and gold accents. Celaena would want people to notice her, but would also want to be able to blend in. I felt this dress fit that part perfectly and would work for any of the events at the palace.

So there you have it, the two sides of Celaena Sardothien. She is definitely a puzzle and grows into a bigger and bigger one with every book.

And that brings us to the GIVEAWAY. The Bloombury has kindly offered to giveaway copies of Throne of Glass, Crown of Midnight, The Assassin’s Blade & Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas + tote bag + signed print of Crown of Midnight and to open the giveaway internationally to the UK and the US ONLY. It is a fnatatic giveaway and something you don’t want to miss.
