Review: Splintered – A. G. Howard

Review: Splintered – A. ..

Holy dark and creepy and twisted take on Alice in Wonderland and I loved every minute of it! It was the comfort of Alice in Wonderland with such a different take that I was mesmerized by it. The imagery, the characters, the story, the weirdness. I devoured Splintered and was left wanting more when I was done. Basically Splintered is the story of Alyssa Gardner, a somewhat descendent of the inspiration for Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderlands. Since the telling of Alice’s stories, the women in Alyssa’s family have been cursed with madness and usually end up in mental health […]

Review: Hereafter – Kate Brian

Review: Hereafter – Kate..

I had no idea where Kate Brian was going to take this series after the first book. To be frank, I was worried about it because I wasn’t sure there was anywhere to really go since I found the first book fantastic. That being said I wasn’t going to let my doubts stop me from reading Hereafter and thank goodness. Brian made a believer out of me with her ability to tell a straightforward story and to keep the audience guessing. Because Hereafter was a guessing game for me and I loved every minute of it. Hereafter picks up almost […]

Review: Prodigy – Marie Lu

Review: Prodigy – Marie ..

Right away I will admit to not liking this as much as Legend at all. I found the middle to drag and the end was super sad but you could see coming from a mile away. But I also understood the purpose of this book. To me, Prodigy did what most first books do and set up the series.  In my mind, Prodigy was there to set up the final chapter, the last book in the series, Champion, and that made it understandable why I found parts slow and draggy. Prodigy picks up right where Legend ended. June and Day […]

Review: Shadowlands – Kate Brian

Review: Shadowlands – Ka..

Source/Type: Library/Hardcover Stars: 4.5 of 5 My first thought: Why did I take so long to read this book?! It has been on my list for so long. It was even on my ‘dying to read list’ and I still didn’t get to it. Well, that changed when I became a library convert and was able to check it out. And boy was it ever fantastic. It was everything that I was hoping for. It was well written and kept me guessing and had likable characters. It was all around an excellent book. Shadowlands is the first book in a […]

Review: Nantucket Blue – Leila Howland

Review: Nantucket Blue –..

I wanted to like this book, I really really did. It seemed like the perfect summer read. An island during the summer, a cute romance, and a small mystery. Sadly all the parts just didn’t add up and I was left feeling disappointed and yearning for what could have been. It wasn’t a bad book, in the long run, it just wasn’t what it could have been. It’s hard for me to describe what Nantucket Blue was truly about because it wasn’t really 100% clear. On the surface, it seemed to be about Cricket wanting to be there for her […]
