Have you seen this…

Andi’s ABCs and The Book Addict’s Guide have joined together to give you “Have You Seen This…”! Have You Seen This will be a way for bloggers to hunt down those hard-to-find books for their collections (think an international version or old ARC)! Both Andi and Brittany will have a specific page set up for this feature where bloggers can post which books they’re looking for and those with rare copies can check to see if anyone needs them.

What does this mean?
Well what will happen is that a blogger will write up a post about the ARC or hard to find book that they are looking for. After that post is written and posted, they can go to the page set up on both Andi’s ABCs and The Book Addict’s Guide where they can link-up their post and scan the other posts other bloggers have also linked up. (The linky will be the same on both blogs so the blogger will only need to visit one or the other.)

What happens next?
What happens next is up to you and your readers. If someone happened to read your blog post and has what you are looking for, it is between the two of you to work out what is exchanged (if anything), what kind of trade can be made, what can be given in return. Both The Book Addict’s Guide and Andi’s ABCs are only hosting this link-up. Trade negotiations (items, timing, money, shipping, etc), is between you and the other person.

Please include contact information in your post so people can reach you regarding your book in question if you do not have information in your sidebar/on your blog. You want people to contact you about your book so please make it easy for them to do so! (If you don’t want to post your email address on your blog, get creative – let them know another way to contact you.)

When can I link up?
Right now. Link-up anytime! If your item has been found it is up to you to remove/edit your link.

What are we trying to do here?
Both Brittany and Andi have older ARCs they are trying to find to finish a collection. This is a way to get word out to other readers who may have those ARCs that they don’t want or would trade for something else. It is just a way to get word out there that Person A is looking for item B.

Do I HAVE to be a blogger?
No, we do not require you to be a blogger to participate – we’re mostly using the term “blogger” since we know a lot of bloggers who have fantastic book collections and many different versions that they are trying to collect. If you are NOT a blogger, we do still as that you create a post somewhere open to the public so you can link up and someone can contact you.

What do I do if I make a trade/find my book?
Since you and your trade partner are handling this on your own, you do NOT need to contact either of us to let us know. Your linky will remain on that month’s post and you will simply not link up that same post the next month (unless you have another book you want to add), but please do update that post so if anyone does have a match for you, they will see you have already made your trade.
The only reason you will need to contact either of us is if something goes TERRIBLY WRONG. We are not responsible for a partner not holding up their end of the deal (although we wish we could make everything go smoothly and we hope this doesn’t happen). If you made an agreement and the other half does not follow through, we just need to know so we do not allow this person to continue offering trades.

A FEW DISCLAIMERS:

  • This is by no means a place to request unreleased ARCs.We understand that people are dying for certain ARCs for books that aren’t out yet. The real purpose is to find books for people that are collecting them or can’t find a hard to find released book. We all want those unpublished books, but there are other places for that. This is a fun idea just to help find the books we are missing on our shelves for one reason or another. Please ONLY request an ARC version of a book AFTER its publication date.
  • Andi and Brittany cannot be held responsible for any deals or trades made. This is totally up to the parties in question. We hope nothing goes wrong but we are just the means to spread the word. If you run into a situation where someone is not cooperating, we can try to help as a last resort but unfortunately we cannot guarantee a solution. If two people cannot agree on a swap or you don’t feel comfortable with the person who contacted you for any reason, that’s okay, but please do not back out once the deal has been made. You have the right to refuse a deal but please be courteous about this!
  • Andi and Brittany reserve the right to remove any links that do not abide by these rules. If you are asking for an ARC of a book that is not yet released, your link-up has the potential to be removed. PLEASE DO NOT LOOK FOR THOSE ARCS UNTIL AFTER RELEASE DATE.

  1. This is such a great idea! Unfortunately I think that most of the people participating will be from the US and it’s quite expensive to get a book from the US to the EU or the other way around.
