The Book Outlet

We all have those books, the ones that we are excited to read, that are coming out and we swear we are going to buy them, and then we don’t. Sometimes it is money, sometimes it is laziness, sometimes we just forget. I have done this more times than I can count and for all of these reasons. I have also read a book on my Kindle or that I have borrowed or is an ARC and I’ve loved it and swear I will by a physical copy and yet I never get around to it. This is when the Book Outlet comes in for me.

Once or twice a month I go and peruse the site and look to see what new books there are or if any books I need to finish a collection or wanted to read have popped up. Last year I even planned out my giveaways for New to You and bought the books I could from Book Outlet. Sure it took time to be planning those things that far in advance, but in the long run it was worth it. Recently I was able to order a book I need for a signing I knew was coming up which was perfect.

The thing about the Book Outlet that I love is the price and the authors that can easily be found there. I did a little search this morning and I found some of my faves (prices and available stock are subject to change):

Kasie West

Pivot Point ($4.29) || On the Fence ($3.79) || The Distance Between Us ($4.29)

Jodi Meadows

The Orphan Queen ($3.19) ||  Incarnate ($4.29) || My Lady Jane ($3.19)

Sarah J. Maas

A Court of Wings and Ruin ($5.39) || Empire of Storms ($4.79) || Tower of Dawn ($5.89)

Sarah Ockler

The Summer of Chasing Mermaids ($3.19) || The Book of Broken Hearts ($2.19) || Fixing Delilah ($.59)

Suzanne Young

All in Pieces ($3.79) || The Program & The Treatment ($7.49) || Just Like Fate ($5.39)

Something Like Normal ($4.79) || Where the Stars Still Shine ($6.99) || In a Perfect World ($6.39)

Heather Demetrios

I’ll Meet You There ($4.29) || Something Real ($4.29) || Bad Romance ($6.39)

Have you found any good gems on Book Outlet? Do you shop there? Tell me your thoughts below. Let me know if you plan to buy any of these. Remember shipping is free in the US for orders over $35. With these prices, think of how many books you can get for that amount!

Blog Tour – The Mirror King by Jodi Meadow: The ABCs (+ a Giveaway)

Today on the blog tour for The Mirror King I have Jodi Meadows guest posting The ABCs for Wilhelmina.  Wil is a pretty straightforward girl that has some items that you know are her as soon as you see them. Welcome Jodi (and by extension, Wil) to the blog.

Accessory: Daggers.
I mean, Wilhelmina already has daggers, but what girl doesn’t need more weapons? Wil’s current daggers are perfectly serviceable, and she’s pretty attached to them, given all they’ve been through together, but if she were to have new daggers, perhaps they’d have fine ebony hilts, some sort of design etched into the tang and up into the blade. It would, perhaps, be ospreys in flight. Oh, and they’d be sharp.

Book: A new blank notebook.
Wil likes to read, sure, but she also likes to write. And by write, I mean she likes to steal handwriting and practice using it. Why not in a nice notebook? But Wil also keeps a diary, and the one she’s been using since she was young is getting pretty full. She deserves a new one after all this time. The main requirement for this is that the notebook have really nice paper. Wilhelmina is definitely a paper snob.

Clothes: A cloak.
So, the cloak on the cover of THE ORPHAN QUEEN was never actually in the book. And on THE MIRROR KING cover there are two cloaks, so in THE MIRROR KING I actually do give Wil a cloak. Clearly she wanted one. But for sneaking purposes, rather than cover purposes, Wil would probably like a black or dark gray cloak. Something to help her blend into the night.

Wilhelmina has a hundred enemies.

HER FRIENDS HAVE TURNED. After her identity is revealed during the Inundation, Princess Wilhelmina is kept prisoner by the Indigo Kingdom, with the Ospreys lost somewhere in the devastated city. When the Ospreys’ leader emerges at the worst possible moment, leaving Wil’s biggest ally on his deathbed, she must become Black Knife to set things right.

HER MAGIC IS UNCONTROLLABLE. Wil’s power is to animate, not to give true life, but in the wraithland she commanded a cloud of wraith mist to save herself, and later ordered it solid. Now there is a living boy made of wraith—destructive and deadly, and willing to do anything for her.

HER HEART IS TORN. Though she’s ready for her crown, declaring herself queen means war. Caught between what she wants and what is right, Wilhelmina realizes the throne might not even matter. Everyone thought the wraith was years off, but already it’s destroying Indigo Kingdom villages. If she can’t protect both kingdoms, soon there won’t be a land to rule.

In this stunning conclusion to THE ORPHAN QUEEN, Jodi Meadows follows Wilhelmina’s breathtaking and brave journey from orphaned criminal on the streets to magic-wielding queen.

Challenge Updates: September Check-In

Along with my Goodreads Challenge (you can find my progress on the side bar) I also challenged myself to 2 other challenges for 2015. Every month I will check in with my challenge updates.

Back in December I signed up for The Re-Read Challenge hosted by Belle of the Literati and So Obsessed With. Honestly I didn’t expect this to be a problem and so far it hasn’t. I’m on track to reach my goal of 12-14 books without a hitch. My September rereads:

I suck. That is all there is to it. My last reread was in June. Yes, JUNE! I still need to do three more before the end of the year. Time to get serious.

I also committed the the Flights of Fantasy challenge run by Alexa Love Books and Hello, Chelly. As you may have heard, I am new to the fantasy genre (thank you Sarah J. Maas and Throne of Glass for this!) and I thought it would be good for me to challenge myself with this one. I have decided to do 12 so I only have to read 1 a month. My September fantasy reads:

Title: Queen of Shawdows
Author: Sarah J. Maas
Date Read: September 1, 2015 –September 7, 2015
Type: Purchased

Holy crap this book! I don’t want to say much as I don’t want to give it away, but it may have crushed my soul…a lot. You can read my review of it by clicking on the title.

Title: The Mirror King
Author: Jodi Meadows
Date Read: September 15, 2015 –September 19, 2015
Type: eARC

WOW WOW WOW! I loved this final chapter of The Orphan Queen duology even more than I loved OQ. It was fast paced and hurt my soul and surprised me. It was everything I expected from Jodi and more. A must read in April!

Title: Dark Triumph
Author:  Robin LaFevers
Date Read: September 28, 2015 –
Type: Gifted

This book is a reading work in progress and will be finished in October but it was started in September so some of the credit belongs here.

I’m kicking butt in my fantasy challenge. My current total is at 16 read and 1 currently reading. I have already surpassed my goal but I’m not done yet. I still have 3 months of fun reading left. But I am proud of myself with this one.

Top Ten Tuesday – Authors I Want to Meet

I freely admit that I have been pretty lucky when it comes to meeting some of my favorite authors. Rainbow Rowell, Lauren Oliver, Morgan Matson, Miranda Kenneally; I was lucky enough to meet these lovely ladies and get my books signed by them. But there is still that elusive list that I would love to meet some day. I mean I have interacted with almost all of the 10 and have signed books from a few, but the meeting had yet to happen. I wonder what I can bribe them with to come to Boston. 😉 So which authors are you DYING to meet? stephkarenemeryjodiheathermelinasarahlaurensuzannetrish
