I have always been a fan of monthly type boxes. I’ve tried a bunch of different things. Julep Maven (which I still will get on occasion), Birch Box, Pop Sugar Must Have and more recently Stitch Fix. They have all had pros and cons and have cost anywhere from $10 a month to $40 a month. It is fun to get mystery packages in the mail. Well not that long ago I stumbled on to a new monthly service…Rocksbox.

At first I didn’t understand exactly what Rocksbox was/did. I just knew that I saw a code for a free month so I checked it out. Come to find out Rocksbox is Netflix for jewelry.  And it is awesome!

Basically you fill out a survey when you sign-up about which jewelry pieces you like, what your style is, and what you wear most of. Then you create a wish list. A dedicated stylist will then pick out pieces and send them to you which you get to borrow and wear until you want to return or buy or a combination of the two. You pay a $20 a month fee to borrow the items but you get $10 of that back in Shine Spend which you can use on the items you want to purchase for that month. You can find out more HERE.

Since signing up I have had 2 Rocksbox deliveries and I have kept one item and will be keeping another. The quailty of the jewelry is really good and it holds up. Basically I’m really happy with this service and the prices of the pieces I have kept.

  1. This seems interesting. What is the quality of the material? Do you feel like it’s more costume-y or more gemstones, or semi-precious? Is it sterling, or gold, or the painted on gold stuff. I am a type of person who always ends up getting green strips around my fingers, and ear infections from earring posts, if they aren’t 14k gold.

So if you send them back, you still pay the money, is it more if you decide to keep something?

    Sounds like a interesting concept!

It is definitely mostly costume jewelry but they do have some higher end stuff that isn’t and that I can’t afford. 🙂 The ring that I got in my last box that I will be keeping is found HERE. And if you send them back you do still pay the $20 but you get another box as soon as they receive them like you would with Netflix.
