Netgalley Bingo – January Update

Posted February 11, 2020 by Andi in Netgalley Challenge / 1 Comment

Back in January I celebrated my 7 year blog anniversary and introduced a new individual challenge I am taking part in. I had picked 25 books on the Netgalley queue that I planned to read to help my Netgalley feedback ratio. In theory it seemed liked a great idea. Seemed like it would be something I could do. In practice it is harder than it looked.

The good news is that I made progress on my Netgalley Bingo. I read 3 books on my Bingo card between January 11th and February 11th. I consider that a win since one of those books had been sitting in my queue since 2017. It’s the little things I guess that make me happy. I also hope to get to at least 3 more on my Bingo card by the time it is March 11th (if you haven’t noticed my months are from the 11th to the 11th for the purpose of this challenge).

The bad news, things aren’t looking up in the feedback ratio portion of this challenge. My number should be going up and it sadly has gone down since I first challenged myself. I started on January 11th with 90 unread Netgalley books. I have hit February 11th with 102. But that is just life. The truth is, there are a lot of great books on my radar for 2020 and it is hard to stay away from the ones I really want. I’m a book nerd, a book lover, a blogger. It is the nature of the beast and I just have to accept it. Am I going to keep trying? Absolutely.  And I’m going to use this template my friend found to show my progress, even when it is ugly.

Things may not be going as planned, but I have a very happy Kindle filled with books I’m excited to read. Such is life.

Do you find yourself acquiring more books then you read? Share your experience in the comments.
